The role of Assistant Trainer is helping run the entire yard as a business enterprise responsible for the staff, training the horses and all aspects of management.

  • Previous experience of handling horses

How to get into this role

You would need to progress from Head Groom, then on to Assistant Trainer. You would be required to communicate up and down the management team, motivate and lead the team and delegate between the trainer and the stable staff.

Career Progression

The next step in your career could be to become a Trainer and take out your trainer’s licence to trainer your own horses.
