Main Duties of a Stud Manager
- Oversee the breeding operation, including covering schedules, veterinary liaison, legal compliance and foaling.
- Manage staff recruitment, supervision, training, and performance.
- Ensure high standards of horse welfare, health, and safety at all times.
- Maintain compliance with industry and statutory requirements.
- Oversee stud facilities, equipment, and pasture management.
- Managing budgets, record keeping, and business administration.
- Report to owners on breeding outcomes, horse welfare, and business performance.
What the role requires
- In-depth knowledge of thoroughbred breeding practices.
- Good communication and relationship management with vets, farriers, nutritionists, and regulatory bodies.
- Knowledge of the breeding industry and wider racing sector.
- Business management experience, including budgets and staff management.
