Stud Groom
The Stud Groom supports the Stud Manager in the daily running of the stud, helping to ensure high standards of care and welfare for mares, foals, stallions, and youngstock.
The role involves supporting breeding operations, coordinating with vets and farriers, and assisting with the supervision and organisation of the stud team to maintain the smooth and professional operation of the stud.

Main Duties of a Stud Groom
- Assist the Stud Manager in day-to-day operations and deputise when required.
- Oversee breeding activities, foaling, coverings, and veterinary procedures.
- Handle and care for mares, foals, stallions, and young horses.
- Maintain accurate records relating to breeding, foaling, veterinary treatments and welfare.
- Ensure health, safety, and biosecurity standards are maintained at all times.
- Support positive communication with owners and visitors.

- Awareness of stud standards, welfare regulations, and best practice.
Desirable Skills
- Proven experience in a stud environment with thoroughbred breeding.
- Hands-on experience with foaling and breeding activities.
- Sound knowledge of signs of wellbeing as well as normal development in youngstock.
- Apply basic Equine First Aid and routine treatments.
- Works collaboratively and supports colleagues to achieve shared goals.
