Our Foundation Course is the ideal place to start your career in racing. Whether you have some experience of riding and horses, or are a complete beginner, the British Racing School’s Foundation Course is the perfect stepping-stone to turn your passion for horses into a rewarding career working with some of the finest equine athletes on the planet.

The course is for 16-24 year olds and is split into two parts:

Level 1 Diploma which takes place at the British Racing School over 12 or 18 weeks (depending on experience), and
Level 2 Diploma where we will find you a full time paid job working in Horse Racing Yard where you can continue your training and begin an apprenticeship, fully supported by The British Racing School.

No experience is necessary, but a good attitude is essential

No matter how little or how much experience you’ve got, our Foundation Course will give you the start you need to succeed in a career in racing. With 80 retired racehorses on site, we’ll teach you how to ride these amazing animals, starting in our indoor school, through to our state of the art round and straight canters. With world-class facilities on site, you’ll also be able to train on our equicisers and in our gym, as well as develop your knowledge of the sport, gain additional skills and make friends for life. You’ll need to be hard working, enthusiastic, love horses and and keen to work in the racing industry.

No academic qualifications needed – we will help you gain your English and Maths GCSEs if necessary
We do have a weight limit of 11 stone / 69kg for the Foundation Course (If you are over 5’11 and weigh more than 11 stone, please get in touch to discuss options)
