Main Duties of a Yard Groom

• Perform general yard maintenance, such as sweeping, disinfecting, and emptying muck trailers.
• Assist with basic stable duties, such as mucking out, watering and bedding down.
• Move horses under supervision.
• Clean and maintain yard equipment and facilities.

• Being able to take instructions and follow directions from senior staff.

• Support adherence to biosecurity and health and safety procedures.

• Knowledge of all racing protocols, rules, entries, declarations and logistics.
• Strong leadership and able to make good decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication with staff, owners, and stakeholders.
