Main Duties of a Yard Groom
- Perform general yard maintenance, such as sweeping, disinfecting, and emptying muck trailers.
- Assist with basic stable duties, such as mucking out, watering and bedding down.
- Move horses under supervision.
- Clean and maintain yard equipment and facilities.
What the role requires
- Understanding stable routines and cleanliness.
- Willingness to work proactively, learn and work well as part of a team.
- Being able to take instructions and follow directions from senior staff.
- Reliable and safety-conscious.
- Support adherence to biosecurity and health and safety procedures.
Desirable skills
- Deep understanding of racehorse training, care and performance management.
- Knowledge of all racing protocols, rules, entries, declarations and logistics.
- Strong leadership and able to make good decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication with staff, owners, and stakeholders.
