If you are thinking of a complete career change you might have the skills racing needs! Take a look at your options.
Ready for a change?
There are many examples of people working in racing who have come from a very different career. Those that have perhaps previously been working in other equine disciplines, or in entirely different industries. Don’t be afraid to take a look at our job board to see the many opportunities available.
If you want to work directly with horses but don’t ride you might like to take a look at the Ground Based Yard Staff Courses at the British Racing School or National Horseracing College. There is also free training for a career in the breeding industry course that is run at the National Stud.
For these courses, you don’t need to have any prior experience. Just an eagerness to learn and to want to work in the racing or breeding industry following your course. You will find these courses advertised on this website, when they are being run, usually once a year.
Find a suitable course
Also we have some fantastic short courses where you can increase your knowledge. From our one day Overview of British Racing Seminar to the week long Racing Industry Course (TRIC). You will be sure to learn lots more about the industry and how it works together to make racing happen.
There is even a host of short courses available on our unique training platform Racing2learn. You can set yourself up with an account and access many courses from first aid to learning about the structure of the industry. Find out more, click here.
